UGC probe body recommends withdrawal of BSMRSTU VC

The UGC probe committee, formed to investigate the irregularities and corruption allegation against the VC, today submitted its report to its chairman with the recommendation.
A member of the investigation committee, seeking anonymity, confirmed the development to The Daily Star.
UGC chairman Professor Dr Kazi Shahidullah told The Daily Star that he received the probe report from the inquiry team at his office this morning.
On September 24, the UGC formed the five-member committee to investigate the situation of BSMRSTU as students of the university have been demonstrating since September 18, demanding resignation of the vice-chancellor for his alleged involvement in corruption and irregularities.
On September 25, the five-member team, led by UGC member Dr Muhammad Alamgir, went to the BSMRSTU campus and talked to teachers, students and other concerned people. The team members stayed on the campus for the two days.
The committee was formed the committee as the education ministry on September 23 sent a letter to the UGC, asking to form a committee to investigate the situation at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University in Gopalganj.
